Propagate the revolutionary spirit eastward after inheriting it. The first comprehensive university established by the Communist Party in Northeast China was Northeast Normal University, initially known as “Northeast University,” which was established in 1946. The college, which was founded in Changchun in 1949, changed its name to “Northeast Normal University” in 1950. In 1958, it was given administrative control over Jilin Province, and the name “Jilin Normal University” was chosen. In 1980, it was given the name “Northeast Normal University” (NENU) again after being absorbed into the Ministry of Education. NENU was one of the initial universities to receive priority building in the “211 Project” in 1996. And in 2004, the Ministry of Education gave NENU permission to open the graduate program.
