The oldest language programs in China are found at BFSU, which also offers the most majors in foreign languages across all academic levels. The Haidian District of Beijing is home to the east and west campuses of BFSU. The Chinese Ministry of Education has designated it as a state-run Double First Class university in China. Beijing Foreign Studies University (BFSU), also known as Beiwai in Mandarin, is a sister institution of Peking University (PKU), which is a department of the Ministry of Education. Because of this, students from BFSU can sign up for classes at PKU.
